Here’s a super quick video I recorded today during our short break here in Cornwall…
As I’ve mentioned in previous videos, I love hill running and stair running as a means or improving running form. With the right cues, running up various inclines helps to encourage proper range of motion at the hip, and reduce the tendency to over stride.

I read this after just running down and then up again the four flights of stairs where I work. Good to know I’m on the right track
Thank you James. I can do this up the 4 flights of stairs I go up and down all day at work 🙂
Perfect to include in my coaching session tomorrow which was all about running technique. Triple flex ion always so hard to explain. Stairs are located right nearby! Enjoy Cornwall
I’ve just completed my second season of having a block of stair running in my program prior to starting a block of hill repeats, good pointers though about bringing the knee through. You make no mention of how to use the step session wise? I only have access to a short run of steps which takes around 15 seconds to ascend. I did a set of 6 reps, (walk down recovery) recovery jog between each set and built to 8 sets total.

We can try the steps at Gateshead Stadium next week?
Good idea Kris! Remind me if I forget…
